Things that don’t work out for me.
It was supposed to be like burning man, and used for my 2D project.
And it didn’t.
It barely even smoldered.
fml.
Because I’m tired, depressed, and generally pissed off at everything.
woo!
This is thoroughly gorgeous and if I were a designer I would pray to the design-gods for this much style, cohesion, and subtlety.

This piece is called “Cacophony” and is illustrative of the issues within technology. It is aesthetically simple and open and does what it needs to do to convey its message auditory while creating a vision for the simplicity inherent in elegant communication design. It was created by studio nomad.
I like things like this, that are crafty and simple. The colors and shapes work well and play off of each other nicely.
Video in the next post.
The Watching You Chair by Koji Sekita uses an unusual method of construction. This method of creating, which is not limited to chairs but can also create benches and similar articles, is made up of everything that is currently trending in the design world—minimalism, simplicity, repetition, recyclablility, and pure cleverness of design. The chair is made of paper. Cardstock, specifically, and the honeycomb pattern actually creates a real chair that someone can sit upon. While I think the base is lovely, it’s not as innovative and elegant as the way Koji Sekita chose to deal with the back rest area. The curves and pattern created, well, think about it. How long did it take to arrive at the design ending to create such a flowing pattern, with paper, mind you?
What do you think?
Hopefully I won’t offend too many designers with whom I may desire to be associated with in future.
So far I’ve been ambulatory for about 30 minutes and I have already cleaned my room and made tea. Time for Laundry, 2D, bagels, 3D…my life. And sit-ups. woot to a burgeoning 4 pack.
And that is alright, I can live with that. Because I learned lots of new things and got a pretty henna tattoo :)
Well, I tried walking on the slack line. That was stupid number one, (picture number 6) but as I didn’t hurt myself and managed to step 3 steps on my own, I’m feeling freaking AWESOME.
The other dumb thing I did involved creating a hammock type seat in a quad-tree and actually sitting in it. I didn’t die or break bones but I need someone to come out and take a picture for me and I know for DAMN sure my roomie isn’t up for it. Urgh. Hopefully my project for 3D will still be up and unmolested so that I may sit in it.
Don’t Try This At Home OR in a high tree. Poor choices.
How I made it:
Paracord, overhand knots, double half hitches, tenacity, four trees with a common base.
So I started off with 3 lines of cord I thought would be long enough to make the seating. Maybe they were 20 feet apiece. I got another one to use as sort of the outside anchor point. It was probably 30 feet. I folded all of these in half so the folded ends formed a loop. I wrapped them around one of the trunks and created a single overhand knot with all the ends of the line. So now you basically have an octopus. I then made a quadrangle around the trunks, securing around each individual trunk with a loop ending in double half hitches. So as to make it as large an area as possible you end at the point on the trunk closest to the last trunk and then make another double half hitch on the side closest to the next trunk. And around. Then I made the seat with how you’d normally tie a hammock form, with overhand knots, tieing in sets of two, and then split them and tie in different sets of two. The orphan strings on the outside make double half hitches to the outside quadrangle. So forth until you reach the end. Make the holes maybe about 3x3 squares or smaller if you have more time and paracord. End by tying the ends in double half hitches on the outside quadrangle the points that seem best and keep up the pattern best. Ta da.
now…DON’T YOU DARE SIT IN THIS MONSTROSITY YOU JUST CREATED WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU YOU COULD BREAK YOUR NECK.

So inspring. Someday I’m going to have a lovely garden.
ah this would be so freaking cool
I desire to design my future garden in this fashion. Yes. And now I’m about to post the stupid thing I did today, enjoy :)

Yes, my eye is always crooked when I smile. Yes I AM the same shade of pink as the card that’s waving hello over my shoulder. Because I rollerbladed the perimeter of RIT.
And I am contemplating moving this blog over to my ‘main account blog’ because that’s just my social reblogfest.
Let me tell you about the present confusion that subs in for my life between periods of extreme boredom.
Right now I am in love with my ex, Damien, who never stopped loving me and I miss him awfully. He is 5’ 8”, has an endearingly sweet smile when you can get him to smile, brown hair, big, mostly brown eyes, one with a patch of melatonin deficient grey uniqueness. He is not just slim but skinny, and is one of those people that GAINS weight running because it puts muscle on him. He likes Monster and he is 17, 20 months younger than me. He has been accepted to and is more than likely to come to RIT this coming fall. He’s sweet and totally crazy for loving me because I’m totally crazy.
Why this is frustrating: Because I get frustrated easily and also am still a teenager and therefore more of a serial monogamist than a monogamist. And I don’t want to hurt him, he’s too important.
Oh, and he’s going to be here a week from Sunday.
